Vacation Bible School (VBS), a summer kids' event called "Weird Animals:  Where Jesus' Love Is One-of-a-Kind" will be hosted here at Our Father Lutheran Church from June 23 - June 27, 2014.  At VBS, the kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and dig into yummy treats, experience epic Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them they are one of a kind, and test out sciency-fun gizmos and crafts that they'll take home and play with all summer long.  Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through "God Sightings."  Each day concludes with The Tail End--a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they've learned.  Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time at 11:45 AM.  VBS is for kids from 3 years old to 5th grade and will run from 8:45 AM to noon each day.  For more information, call 303-779-1332.

CHILDREN DURING WORSHIP

CHILDREN'S MESSAGES
These are shared with the children during the Sunday morning worship service.  We encourage all children to participate.  Through these talks the children have an active part in the worship service.

MORE CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

CRADLE ROLL
Baptized infant members of Our Father are enrolled in the Cradle Roll.  Parents are then provided with Christian education materials in order to assist them with their child's spiritual growth and religious training from birth to the age of three.

CHILDREN'S CHOIRS
Children's choirs called "SonShine Singers" (Grades K-2) and “Our Father's Kids” (Grades 3-6) rehearse on Wednesday evening 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. (Times vary slightly during Advent and Lent).  These groups sing regularly for worship, alternating between the early and late services.  Rehearsal time is held in conjunction with the children’s handbell ringers.

OUR FATHER CHILDREN’S LEARNING CENTER
Our Father Children’s Learning Center is an exciting ministry to pre-school children (ages 2 ½-5 years) and their parents.  Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. during the school year, the building bustles with Bible stories, songs, crafts, finger plays, prayers and kids in motion, all within a Christian context.  Our Father Children’s Learning Center is self-supporting and contributes to Our Father financially as well as physically, through the purchase of playground equipment and other needed items.  Call (303) 779-4910 and talk to our preschool director if interested.

ACOLYTES
Acolytes are youth in grades five and above who have the opportunity to serve their Lord and the church by leading processions, lighting and extinguishing candles, assisting at communion, and by assisting the pastor as requested during the worship service.  The acolytes at present serve at approximately one worship service per month.  There is a formal training for acolytes, and acolytes are expected to participate in yearly refresher classes.  A schedule is sent to each volunteer.

FLAT JESUS - Mission Project

Flat Jesus is OFLC's Children's Ministry take-home summer mission project based on the popular "Flat Stanley" book series. As we thought about summer children's education, we thought, "If only Jesus could travel with OFLC's kids during the summer" and born was the concept of our newest traveling companion, Flat Jesus.

Flat Jesus is a paper doll that the children can cut out and color. He can accompany them on their travels this summer.  The children can then photograph and document his adventures at various destinations.  Then, in September, we will host a welcome home party for Flat Jesus.  Prizes will be awarded in several categories (i.e. best outfit, best travel story, furthest distance travelled, etc.).  Help us take Flat Jesus on a summer mission to see the world God created!

How to Get Started:

1.  Print out a copy of Flat Jesus using the link below

     Flat Jesus

2.  Cut out and color your Flat Jesus

3.  Take Flat Jesus with you on your travels this summer whether by car, plane, via mail or digitally

4. Take photos at various destinations and document Flat Jesus' adventures

5.  Save the photos and stories and bring them to church in September for the welcome home party where prizes will be awarded!

SPROUTS - Children's Education Program

"Listen.  What do you make of this?  A farmer planted a seed.  As he scattered the seed, some of it fell on the road and birds ate it.  Some fell in the gravel; it sprouted quickly but didn't put down roots, so when the sun came up it withered just as quickly.  Some fell in the weeds; as it came up, it was strangled among the weeds and nothing came of it.  Some fell on the good earth and sprouted with a flourish, producing a harvest exceeding his wildest dreams."   - Mark 4:3-8 (The Message)

Who:  Kids 3 years old through 5th Grade

What:  "Children's Church" - an energetic and educational time of worship designed for kids

When:  During the tenfortyfive service each Sunday

Where:  Chapel (Main Level)

Why:  To provide our children with the tools they need to "sprout with a flourish" growing up in HIM, learning to be and make disciples
