CONFIRMATION
Check out Pastor CJ and
Micah's
Confirmation Moment!
For middle
school students, the majority of this purpose statement is
experienced through a program called Confirmation. Confirmation
is a two year program* that uses Christian mentoring, classroom
teaching, service projects, retreats, and fellowship events to
help students better understand and take ownership in their
faith in Jesus Christ. In addition, it is our goal to equip
parents with the tools necessary to teach the faith to their
children as is the long-held Lutheran tradition!
At the end
of the two year period, students who feel they are ready to
publically declare their faith will do so at a ceremony called
“the Rite of Confirmation”. Simply put, the students make a
declaration of faith while their family and fellow Christians
lay hands of blessing upon the student. While Confirmation can
be an important rite of passage in the life of a teenager, it
is only a step in the life-long faith of the Christian. At
Our Father, the next step is met through the Senior High Student
Ministry Program. To learn more, click

Beginning
October, 2009, Confirmation will become a 2 ½ year program.
Students who complete their 8th grade year will be
welcomed into the Senior High program and the Rite of
Confirmation will take place on Reformation Sunday of their 9th
grade year.
RETREATS
& FELLOWSHIP EVENTS
Another
aspect of our Middle School Ministry are retreats and fellowship
events. All middle school students (whether a part of the
Confirmation program or not) are welcomed to attend any of our
yearly retreats and fellowship events.* These
include:
CateQuizm (May 9-10, 2008)
The
second annual CateQuizm event is coming in May 2008!
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to Go Wild and Win Big!
This event is for all current Confirmation students in the
Denver metro area. The event consists of a Friday evening
bash (with food, entertainment—the band Salient will
perform, and fun) and a Saturday quiz bowl extravaganza.
The Friday event will allow the youth to meet other Christian
youth from around the Denver metro area and will also give them
a chance to practice their skills for the quiz bowl event the
following day. The Saturday CateQuizm event will be a quiz bowl
like no other quiz bowl. There will be contests, prizes, music,
a high energy environment and TONS of FUN! What is your
team’s CQ (CateQuizm Quotient)? Find out and compete to
bring back to your church the prestigious roving “Common Cup”
trophy! Mark your calendars for May 9 and 10, 2008
and fill out an
Activity Participation Agreement to register today! Teams
will consist of 4-5 youth and 1 adult sponsor. The registration
fee is $15.00 per youth.

SUNDAY
SCHOOL
Finally, a
third aspect to the Middle School Ministry program is a weekly
Sunday school class on Sunday mornings (9:30 – 10:30 AM).
Dedicated volunteers and church staff serve as teachers and
helpers for the 7th and 8th grade
students. Sunday school is a great addition to the faith values
taught in Confirmation or as a great tool to invite your friends
to learn about Jesus.
