Primary Position Purpose Summary
Responsible for the creation and organization of all internal and external communications of the ministry of Our Father – electronic, print and social media. Works cooperatively with staff, church leadership and laity in exploring, organizing and prioritizing effective means to communicate the ministries, programs and life of the church. Focal point of contact for which communications are generated and facilitated through available communication mediums.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implement, evaluate and refine communications strategies utilizing own analysis along with input and feedback from staff, church leadership and laity. Support the development or implementation and ongoing use of a uniform brand and design for all church communications, including letterhead, business cards, advertising and ministry brochures and all electronic formats. (5%)
Develop, maintain and update website content regularly to include written text, designs, imagery, on-line registration templates, donation platform, etc. Coordinate with website support company as necessary. Monitor and analyze website stats, performance, functionality, layouts and features. (30%)
Where needed, develop and maintain existing church and general ministry social media presence. Create and send weekly special electronic e-blasts, as needed. Monitor and analyze results of all media platforms for various click and open rates and general measurables for effectiveness. (10%)
Develop, coordinate and produce both written and graphic materials for monthly and mid-month newsletters. Supervises the content and layout of the newsletter. Coordinates the editing with other staff. Graphics and general imagery material through in-house creation or web sourced content. (30%)
Develop and prepare content, graphic designs, images, or videos for special promotional materials (brochures, posters, etc.) for worship series, religious holidays, fundraisers, church activities and ministries. (15%)
Maintain, support and actively grow subscriber lists for various mediums. Search for external publication opportunities to promote and share OFLC’s ministries (i.e. Synod, District, Thrivent and secular publications). Prepare content for distribution. (5%)
Other duties as assigned with supervisor and staff. (5%)
Knowledge and Skill:
Essential & Required:
Knowledge and experience with Google suite and Adobe Creative Cloud (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro/Rush) as well as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher).
Professional experience with PC and Mac Operating Systems.
Knowledge and expertise with the website platform WordPress.
Strong creativity and design skills, attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and superb written and verbal communication skills.
Basic knowledge and experience with usage of internet browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera.
Experience with third party communication platforms such as Constant Contact, Vertical Response, Mail Chimp, Wufoo Forms and online payment systems like Paypal.

Further Scope of Responsibility and Impact of Position:
This position needs a person capable of viewing all ministries in a wholistic view and being able to formulate, plan and execute appropriate communication of that ministry. Planning with other staff and execution of the communication of church ministries and activities requires creativity, accuracy and timeliness.
Understand the age demographic of the congregation, different styles of worship and utilize effective and efficient means of communications through appropriate mediums to targeted audiences.
Have ability to make decisions independent of supervision with aim toward quality of results and effectiveness of outcome. In some instances, be able to synthesize verbal or written information into meaningful, clear and effective communication.
This position is responsible for providing routine and special written publications for the staff and congregation. Accuracy and timeliness of completion are extremely important, as these publications are critical to the success of the ministry programs.
This position is responsible for creating and maintaining electronic communications including interactive website. Technical knowledge and the ability to implement are critical.
Day-to-day decisions include: prioritizing of the workload to meet deadlines, problem solving of electronic or print communication issues, communicating any difficulties encountered which would hinder the timely completion of the work.
Potential future work may include: Creation and maintenance of electronic announcements (message boards).
