Men’s Ministries

Men’s ministries at OFLC seeks to encourage and support men in their various roles as leaders, husbands, fathers, mentors, co-workers, community members, and most importantly, as Christians in an ever changing world.  It’s a call to action; in response to God’s grace in our lives, as Paul says in Ephesians 2:8-10:

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Happy Hour
Third Thursday of each month
Half Penny Brewery (map)
5:00 – 6:00 pm

Men’s Breakfast:
4 times a year we host a large group gathering for men of all ages.  Includes breakfast, time for fellowship, and an inspiring/challenging speaker to help equip us to live out our faith in tangible ways.

Men’s Ministry Breakfast
April 21 (Revised Date)
7:30 – 9:30am
Cost $5.00

Our guest speaker this month is Tom Keithly, a former Director of Christian Education. After 30+ years in ministry, Tom resigned in 2011. Prior to 2011, Tom often engaged in pseudocommunity (a group of people who appear to be a community but between whom there is no genuine commonality) but seldom in authentic community; that is until he hit a crisis in his life. Hear how God worked (and continues to work) through authentic community to bring about repentance, reconciliation and ongoing restoration. Be encouraged and challenged to grow as a disciple as you engage in authentic community.

Men’s Saturday Morning Bible Study:
Prayer, fellowship and study. Meets Saturday mornings in the Library 7:00 – 8:00 am.

Past Events:

Backpacking Trip – Golden Gate Canyon State Park:
This summer, five men traversed the Golden Gate State Park on a 2 night, 3 day backpacking trip.  In addition to experiencing God’s beautiful creation, there was a time for Bible study and fellowship.

Fishing Trip – Arkansas River:
Another 5 men spent 2 days “catching their dinner.”  Fun was had by all, and we’re told, that this time, the big one didn’t get away!

Grand Canyon Adventure:
In April of 2015, 10 men set out for a Grand Canyon trip in Arizona.  Base camping at the top and bottom of the rim, the guys grew in the Lord and relationships with each other.
