ETHIOPIA MISSION TRIP

JAN 13-22, 2026

TRIP DATES
January 13-22, 2026 / We will fly through Istanbul on Turkish airlines, leaving the evening of the 13th and returning home late afternoon on the 22nd.

ANTICIPATED COSTS
$2800 per person.  This does not include passport, visa, or needed vaccinations and is based on a double occupancy room.

LODGING
We will be staying in a modern and comfortable hotel that caters to western travelers, with safe food preparation. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport and an hour away from our Carepoint site. Single and double occupancy is available.

ITENERARY
This is still being finalized, but we will spend around five days engaging with the carepoint site, and three days exploring Ethiopia and learning more about the culture and people of Addis and the surrounding area.

GROUP SIZE
The max size for a trip at this care point is 20 people.  Our intention is to send a team from OFLC to Ethiopia every year (probably January time frame) so if you are unable to attend this year, you’ll have future opportunities.

AGE REQUIREMENTS
Travelers must be 18+ years of age, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

NEEDED VACCINATIONS
This is something you’ll want to talk to your health care provider about. However, as a point of reference, I have received the yellow fever vaccine and taken malaria pills while in-country. Other participants have received a typhoid injection or pill, as well as Hep A, tetanus and polio booster.  (Note:  Because Addis Ababa is close to 8,000 feet in elevation, it is out of the malaria and yellow fever risk area. However, Modjo is at a lower elevation and has a higher risk of mosquitoes so please share both of those travel locations with your travel clinic doctor).

PASSPORT AND VISA
To enter Ethiopia, you’ll need a passport that does not expire within 6 months of travel, as well as a visa that is purchased one week before travel.

HOW TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT
Submit a $250 deposit to OFLC (check or via the online giving portal) with “Modjo Partner Visit” in the memo or “give to” section. That deposit is fully refundable up to December 1st, at which point a room reservation and airline reservation deposit will have been made that is non-refundable unless you purchase travel insurance.  The spots will be held by a first come first serve basis, with a waiting list created should we reach the 20 person max. Finally, the following payment timetable will be as follows:

November 1 25% of payment required
December 1 50% of payment required
January 7 100% of payment required
